The first problem is that matplotlib gives errors when using the metropolis.mplstyle. 2 weeks ago README.md The Ultimate Beamer Theme List Hi Below is a table of custom Beamer themes originally taken from (now archived), now expanded to include a few more themes. Using the metropolis.mplstyle from the post, I’m one step closer to what I want. Anyway, the solution from that post is to use the LaTeX package FiraSans and put your preamble into mpl.rcParams. It seems I’m not the only person who want a metropolis style for matplotlib. However, the style still does not fit due to the typeface and other small things. ![]() I could just set mpl.rcParams = 'none', which makes the figure have transparent background at the same time preservses the axes grey colour. However, when I do that, I have another problem shown below: As you probably know, Beamer is a LaTeX package for creating presentation slides. For some plots with really large data files, it is better just use matplotlib. I used it for routine basic plotting in Beamer, such as the box/scatter plot, the bar chart, the histogram. I know that pgfplots is very powerful, and you can do some pretty complicated plots with it. One problem with it or with beamer in general is that plotting is difficult and limited. Both chromium and cobalt are metals that, over time, can poison an individual who has too much of them built up in his or her body. Another study in 1994 reviewed the “dissemination of cobalt and chromium ions into lymph, liver, and spleen,” per The BMJ (formerly the British Medical Journal).Īlmost every metal-on-metal hip implant is made out of cobalt and chromium (another dangerous metal). In 1975, a study was commissioned to review the impact of cobalt on tissues. Of the 48 patients, 20 died as a result of their heart disease. As it turns out, their local brewer had started using a form of cobalt sulfate to create a better foam on top. A group of 48 beer drinkers developed a form of heart disease (cardiomyopathy) unique to that group. In 1966, a curious case of cobalt poisoning occurred in Canada. ![]() Not likely, says Randy Horowitz, MD, medical director of the University of Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine in Tucson. ![]() But does adding turmeric to your latte or plate of chicken masala do these things? It’s easy to understand why turmeric’s most active component, curcumin, is a powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant that may help treat or prevent diseases ranging from arthritis to ulcerative colitis and cancer. The 4,000-year-old staple of Southeast Asian cooking is showing up everywhere, including ballpark snacks and Starbucks lattes. In general, therefore, side effects of Curmeric extracts can be prevented if you talk to your doctor before starting the supplements.Turmeric has moved to the top of the healthy food chain. As what you have read, most of the Curmeric side effects occur primarily because of high dose of the supplement or to those who have pre-existing health conditions. If you suspect that you are having Curcumin side effects, report immediately to your doctor so that they can take the next course of action to cure the problem. These reports raise concern about curcumin safety, as the induction of DNA alterations is a common event in carcinogenesis.” 2–10įor instance, curcumin concentrations of 2.5 and 5 lg mL 1 were shown to induce DNA damage to both the mitochondrial and nuclear genomes in cells. 1Accumulating data have demonstrated since then that curcumin can induce DNA damage and chromosomal alterations both in vitro and in vivo at concentrations similar to those reported to exert beneficial effect. In 1976 Goodpasture and Arrighi found that turmeric caused a doseand time-dependent induction of chromosome aberrations in several mammalian cell lines these alterations were observedat concentrations of 10 lg mL -1. “A relatively high number of reports suggests that curcumin may cause toxicity under specific conditions. People with hypoglycemia should discuss with their doctor before taking any turmeric supplements because it has been found that it could cause a significant blood sugar drop when combined with diabetic medications. As recommended, pregnant women should consult with their physician before using turmeric Curcumin or any herbal supplement.Īccording to the University of Maryland Medical Center, turmeric causes a lowering of blood sugar. Anaphylaxis, a serious allergic reaction is found to occur only in some rare cases after consumption of Curcumin.Īccording to the National Institutes of Health, pregnant women should not use turmeric herbal supplements because of the fact that it can cause uterine simulation and can stimulate menstrual flow. Some of the allergic reactions are skin inflammation, irritation, burning sensation, and hives that usually occur within the first 24 to 72 hours of exposure to the allergen. It now results to a gallbladder attack and it happens due to increase in the flow of bile from the liver.Ī number of people tend to get allergic reaction when Curcumin is applied topically. It provokes the gallstone problem by washing out the gallstone out of the gallbladder and causes obstruction in the bile duct. Curcumin increases the flow of bile produced by the liver. According to the Linus Pauling Institute at Oregon State University, it may cause the gallbladder to contract, sometimes called the gallbladder squeezing. The liver and the gallbladder, two of the most significant organ of the digestive system, may be poisoned by excess intake of Curcumin. Thus, people who are going to surgery are advised to stop consuming Curcumin supplements at least two weeks before the scheduled surgery. Curcumin also increases the probability of weighty bleeding during or after surgery. As a result, those people who have bleeding disorders may experience harsh bleeding even from very small cuts and bruises. Some of this serious pain include excessive diarrhea, vomiting, dark, tarry stools, bloody stools, vomiting blood, etc.Ĭurcumin has a tendency to slow down the process of blood clotting. If high doses of Curcumin are taken for a long period of time, then some severe signs of gastrointestinal pain may occur because large amount Curcumin can increase the production of stomach acids and may cause heartburn and, of course, stomach ulcer.
